BTC Surging Higher

Bitcoin prices are on watch this week with the futures market opening on a strong footing, extending gains from last week’s almost 25% rally. The reversal higher came amidst renewed optimism for the crypto sector in response to Trump urging Congress to pass the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act. This marks the first serious show of support for the crypto sector by Trump since taking office again. Given that traders were heavily short BTC into the announcement last week, we’re seeing a strong short-squeeze move. The question now is whether this push can transition into real demand for BTC to help drive a fresh rally higher.

Bullish ETF Flows

Looking at ETF flows over the last week there is reason for bulls to be optimistic. BTF ETFs recorded net-inflows of $1.92 billion last week, marking their strongest influx since October 2025. A bullish shift in institutional positioning is a strong green light for the retail market and suggests that bigger players are looking for the recovery to continue. Looking ahead this week, traders will be watching incoming US data (core PCE & prelim GDP Wednesday) as well as Fed chair Warsh’s Jackson Hole speech on Friday. If we see any weakness in core PCE data or any dovish messaging from Warsh, this could see Fed tightening expectations weakening further near-term, putting pressure on USD and creating a platform for BTC to push higher again.
